When we learn about Emotionally Focused Therapy we don’t just start a new professional process but also a new personal one. There are so many ways in which we take EFT home, ways that can enhance our relationships and, as for me, help through really challenging times. Aspects of those experiences can then go back to our therapy room, improving our EFT with clients. Let’s reflect on this together.
Most counsellors are sweethearts, not business people. In this session, I hope to give some business principles to help the growing demand for EFT therapists become more professionally sustainable and financially profitable.
Empathic Attunement is one of the most basic EFT skills. If we can empathically attune with our clients we can create safety and a secure base so that our clients can start to explore their emotional experience, naming and organising their world, whether in individuals, couples or families. But empathic attunement is not a walk in the park. Empathically attuning can evoke our own responses to pain, sadness and fear. In this workshop we will explore the mechanics of empathically attuning and discuss its complexities and challenges. Our goal will be to practice and build confidence for participants.
A look at the philosophical foundations for inclusion and equity. We will explore the works of such philosophers as Patricia Hill Collins, Amartya Sen, Martha Nussbaum, Anthony Appiah, Kimberlé Crenshaw, and Judith Butler.
The team will describe and explain the new paths to certification in EFT couples therapy (EFCT), individual therapy (EFIT), and family therapy (EFFT).
We are currently seeking proposals for conference presentations.
