Details of the workshops
* There are 6 workshops and you will get the opportunity to attend 3 as 2 will run concurrently each time. You will need to choose which to attend.
Workshops A & B
A - Self of the Therapist: Getting in the Way of the Tango – Anne Power & Helene Igweibuike, EFT Trainer
This workshop will explore which Tango moves trip you up and which skills get left at the bottom of your toolbox? Many of us feel frustration that the Tango steps that seem eminently clear when described, defeat us in practice. This workshop is a chance to deepen our understanding of our vulnerabilities and how our own attachment narratives may be guiding our feet and resulting in some mis-stepping and loss of rhythm.
B - Keeping Couples on the Dance Floor – Sandra Taylor, PhD, EFT Trainer, & Joy Wanless, EFT Candidate Supervisor
We will be exploring how we can increase the probability of our couples staying through the course of therapy. The workshop will be informed by our own experiences of when clients don't stay and the theory on predictive factors.
Workshops C & D
C - Embracing the Experiencing Scale - Isabel Bristowe, EFT Candidate Supervisor, & Janine Murray
In this workshop we will explore the Experiencing Scale and how to use it to come alongside and be attuned to our clients so that we can travel the EFT roadmap together. We will include: discussion, presentation, exercises, role play and further reading.
D - Switching on the Emotion Detector - How to Work With Emotion in EFT
- Sarah McConnell, EFT Supervisor, Atisha Gravell & Graham Lee
In this workshop we will explore how to work with emotion covering what emotion is, how it works and the different components of emotion. We’ll work on skills in working with emotion via role play and experiential exercises.
Workshops E & F
E - EFT For Singles Aspiring To Be in a Relationship & Introduction to EFT for Individuals (EFIT)
- Aukelien van Abbema & Helene Igwebuike, EFT Trainer
In our practices, we often see clients who are single but rather want to be in a relationship. These clients seem to be unable to either find dates, turn dates into more steady relationships or transition from short term relationships to long term relationships. In this workshop Aukelien will talk about how to help these clients escape this pattern and take them through the journey of truly connecting to the other, even when scared and feeling like withdrawing. Helene will introduce EFT for Individuals (EFIT) where the goal is to help clients move“from defensiveness and rigidity” to being more open to his or her experience, more able to engage with strong emotion and more able to create a coherent meaningful narrative about self and key relationships.
F - Where Are You? Where Am I? How does Polyvagal Theory Inform the EFT Clinician? - Gulya Diarova, EFT Supervisor
This workshop will go beyond neuroscience and will attempt to show the ways of integrating Polyvagal Theory and EFT into our practice including why distressed clients continually move through an enduring cycle of fight or flight mobilisation, numbness and disconnect and how to access clients social engagement system to co-regulate and help shift their experiences and narratives to a safer place.
